Chemistry tuition at our centres in Folkestone, Maidstone and Medway includes Key Stage 3 and GCSE as part of the Science curriculum, advancing to A-level Chemistry as a standalone subject.

Grasping complex scientific concepts can be difficult – that’s why our classes are taught by specialist teachers with a passion for the subject. Our clear, structured and engaging approach is effective in helping students secure and apply even the most challenging aspects of Chemistry.

If a student is struggling with a certain topic, our teaching assistants with advanced subject knowledge are on hand to provide one-to-one assistance to overcome the difficulty.

Chemistry tuition – focus areas

Improving and strengthening subject knowledge – students learn in small ability-based classes with personalised attention and in direct contact with the teacher.

Exam skills – we concentrate on learning to complete as many answers as possible in a clear and concise manner, timing, and staying calm and focused.

Key Stage 3 – Years 7-9, Ages 11-14

The quality of school learning at Key Stage 3 can become diluted as students have many more subjects to learn. Our tuition ensures your child has a solid foundation and can confidently cope with the pace while progressing towards GCSE level.

At this stage, students develop a deeper understanding of the scientific concepts in Chemistry and learn to establish how they relate to the other Science subject areas: Biology and Physics. Topics include Properties of the Different States of Matter; Atoms, Elements, and Compounds; Chemical Reactions; Energetics; and the Periodic Table.

In our differentiated small-class environment students can learn at their most suitable level and achieve the best possible results. We can teach students with a strong interest and advanced ability in Chemistry beyond the National Curriculum level, building them up to go into more depth at GCSE and A-level.

Key Stage 4 – GCSE – Years 10-11, Ages 14-16

GCSE Chemistry is taught as part of Science, and our weekly 2-hour classes support students’ school learning and develop effective exam-taking skills. We teach both Foundation GCSE and Higher GCSE Chemistry, with classes structured according to the main exam boards.

At this stage, students gain a good understanding of the nature of substances and how they react together, as the use of Chemistry in daily life, business and industry. They learn to formulate a scientific approach to understanding and explaining the world as well as solving problems.

GCSE exams are taken at the end of Year 11 and for the best results, we recommend joining our classes at the start of Year 10.

We also run additional intensive revision classes in February and during the Easter break to get students in the best shape for the exams.
